I am an amateur landscape photographer and digital artist based in Espoo, Finland. During working hours I keep myself busy building things at Runtu Works. I have been photographing all sorts of things since the first photography lessons at elementary school in the 1980’s. There has been highs and lows in my enthusiasm towards photography, but the latest boost has proven to be the longest yet, showing no signs of wearing off. Consequently, I put up this page in the early 2016.
I started out with small point and shoot film cameras and bought my first real SLR as late as early 2000’s. Being that late, it was a digital camera, and counting on my friends advice I ended up with Canon 400D (in fact it was the Digital Rebel XTi, as the 400D was branded in the US, where it was bought). Frustrated in my poor ability to produce decent images, I went off and on photography, and ended up mainly using my DSLR as a regular compact camera, fully automated. In spite of that, I read plenty of literature concerning digital photography hoping that some day I would if not master, at least get a decent start on it.
It was not really until a workshop held by a professional friend of mine that gave me a nudge towards beginning to understand the essence of photography and images. That combined with all the literature I devoured during the early years have, to say the least kept me with the “sport” to date. Since then I have multiplied the amount of photos taken and upgraded my gear a lot more than my skills asked for.
I am currently shooting a Canon 6D and the following lenses: Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L III, Canon 24-105mm f/4.0 L, Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro and Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 Tilt & Shift. There is of course a bagfull of gear I would love to have, but I suppose the next item would be a decent telefoto lens. My current ambition is to learn more of long exposures and HDR, obviously developing my overall skills as I go. I have recently developed a passion on digital art, which I create using my own images.
I edit all my images in both Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC, and present the before/after comparison in my portfolio. As you will be able to see, some of my images have been edited quite a bit, whereas some have been retouched only slightly. All the before versions of the images are the raw files of the base exposures, so you can see what the original image was like.
Realizing I have barely scratched the surface of the amazing possibilities of capturing light and shadow, I sincerely hope that you have the time and interest to examine my work and would greatly appreciate some honest feedback. If you find some of my photographs interesting enough to hang, please support my beloved hobby by ordering your desired image(s) in high quality prints at the Print Shop. Were you to spot an image in my Instagram or 500px feeds that you would love to see here, please let me know.
Thank you for your time, all the best,
